City of Georgetown Proposition A
Georgetown voters will have the opportunity to consider a proposition to reauthorize the City's existing one-quarter-cent local sales and use tax to continue providing revenue for the maintenance and repair of municipal streets.
For more information on this proposition, visit the city's website.
Georgetown ISD Proposition A
Georgetown Independent School District voters will also consider Proposition A, a Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE). This measure concerns the District's maintenance and operations funding and is separate from the City of Georgetown's Proposition A.
The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has endorsed Georgetown ISD Proposition A.
The proposed funding is intended to help Georgetown ISD maintain a balanced budget, support student programs, and provide competitive compensation for teachers and other district employees. According to GISD, approval is estimated to generate approximately $8.4 million annually for District operations after state recapture.
The measure would authorize a tax rate identified on the ballot as an increase. Voters are encouraged to review the proposition language and the District's information about the proposed tax rate and its potential impact.
