Space Alliance Technology Outreach Program
SATOP provides free technical assistance to small businesses, start-ups and entrepreneurs in Texas.
The Space Alliance Technology Outreach Program's (SATOP) mission is to help small businesses overcome technical challenges in the development of innovative products. This is a State of Texas-funded initiative administered by the Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership. SATOP provides FREE technical assistance to Texas-based small businesses (under 500 employees), start-ups, and entrepreneurs. SATOP’s goal is to drive economic growth in Texas by enabling small businesses to overcome product development challenges.
For inventors who require solutions such as material recommendations, assembly / production processes, structural analysis, and much more, SATOP offers up to 40 FREE hours of technical assistance from our volunteer engineers. This is made possible through our Alliance Partners that consist of the NASA Johnson Space Center, engineering firms, and educational institutions.
Inventors requiring extensive technical assistance may be eligible for SATOP’s Engineering Capstone Design Program (ECDP). Partnerships with five Texas Universities enable this program. Small businesses with projects submitted to the ECDP receive design solutions and potentially academic prototypes at no cost to the small business. Regardless of which program applies to you, your invention or product does not have to be high tech or space-related to receive FREE technical assistance.
